MAKE A CAROUSEL MOBILE
Make your own carousel, as airy and fanciful as the one Ernst loves!
You will need:
- colored construction paper and/or sturdy white paper
- scissors
- glue
- markers, crayons, colored pencils, or paints
- origami paper, wrapping paper, or other patterned paper.
- light collage materials, such as feathers, felt, sequins, "googly eyes"
lentils, pasta, etc.
- colored thread and needle
- On a sheet of construction paper, draw a triangular carousel top. Color
and decorate your top, using markers, paints, and collage materials.
- Draw a few carousel animals on another sheet, or sheets, of paper. Draw
the creatures found on Ernst’s carousel, or invent some new ones of your
own . Give them funny, feathery tails or horns, squiggles, stars or spots.
Make them riders, and have fun!
- When everything is dry, carefully cut out your carousel top and animals.
- String needle and thread through your carousel top, and through the
top center of each animal.
- Glue the threaded carousel creatures to the bottom of the carousel top,
then cover glued areas with a decorative strip of paper, or collage materials.
Hang up your carousel, and enjoy!
